Loosen Up

7:00 PM

If I were the same blogger today as I was several months ago, this photo would probably never make it to this blog. Of course back then, I would have wanted to blog something fashionable, where I looked my best and prettiest. However, times have changed.

Fashion no longer revolves solely on what's current and fabulous. While fashion is depicted as the art of dressing up, in the real world, it is also the state of dressing down, being appropriate and of course comfortable. I'm no longer pressured to keep up with what everyone's wearing because my blogging philosophy has moved to a different direction - keeping it less conscious of what others may say and more in touch with my own kind reality.

So what's up with the basic denim shorts, over sized top, ungroomed hair (salvaged by this striped turban) and bare face? Well in reality, this is how I actually dress up during film shoots - the kind where I have to run around, carry heavy items, endure the exhausting heat and humid, not to mention, work long hours.

The whole outfit is casual and really laid back but I made sure I added interesting elements to it such as these  matching metallic red boots and Freeway X Levi Celerio harmonica necklace - one of my most favorite and unique sponsored item so far.

Everywhere I go, I take pride whenever I wear the necklace, showing it off to my friends while feeling "cool" for having a harmonica necklace that for the record, produces actual harmonica music. Normally, my friends and siblings wouldn't care much of the gifts that I would receive from brands. However, it was a surprise that it's the only item I have that everyone, including my straight male friends and even my brother, want for themselves.

The necklace along with another top, was sent by Freeway in line with their latest National Artist's Collectors Series launch, this time featuring the great musical master, Levi Celerio. It brought so many childhood memories back. I remember clearly that my mom and I would go to the Intramuros open garden when I was a little girl to witness the man play classical music and his famous leaf playing technique.

Freeway's concept of creating a set of clothing designs based on the works of iconic figures in arts, literature, music etc. is such a commendable endeavor. The person who initially thought of this should be proud because the collections they have released served as a constant reminder to this generation (a forgetful and indifferent one as the elders would say) that certain people lived and made some of the ground breaking and most significant contributions in enriching Philippine culture.

Kudos to Freeway, a brand I respect for its admirable National Artist Collector's Series, a project that gives more depth and substance to the same old clothes that we wear through cultural awareness.

P.S. I wasn't personally around during the media launch of Freeway's latest collection but it was so nice of them to have my media kit delivered at my door step. More than that, Elite Garments (handling Solo, Freeway, Ensembles, 22BC) was the only company that sent in a gift for my birthday (my favorite brand of brownies), which was something I'm sincerely grateful for.

Thanks for the for everything Elite Garments! More power!
