Baguio Work Trip

1:00 PM

Over the past weekend, I went to Baguio not primarily for a vacation but because of work. It's not so bad mixing business with pleasure after all, haha. My boyfriend JR also tagged along to show his support on my endeavor which was totally sweet.

Inspired by Aivan Magno and his Primitive Revival fashion advocacy.

First things first: accommodation. If you're going to Baguio for a few days, you might want to consider staying over at Bloomfield Hotel. Positioned right in front of SM Baguio, Bloomfield proves to be a convenient place because it's near almost every where plus you can get a cab in just a matter of seconds. For around P2,500/night, get a deluxe room (good for 2-3 persons) with television, decent bathroom, ultra fast internet, free meals and other basic amenities.

The room looks better in person, haha. The photos don't do justice.
The bathroom was a tad bit tiny so I can't take a full photo.

Aside from being the summer capital of the Philippines, Baguio is also said to be a gastronomic sanctuary for foodies and backpackers alike. I didn't have enough time to hop from one restaurant or eatery to another  though. However, we sure didn't miss out on 50's Diner - an old school, cheapskate but popular Baguio hang-out place.

Look how many people were waiting outside. The place was jampacked! Good thing we were early.
See part of their menu: super affordable right?
Cheaper version of Johnny Rockets. I love the place!
Forgot what this is but JR ordered this humongous burger with a large patty and chili con carne beans filling inside

We also got "She" which is a mix of fish fillet, jumbo hotdog, pork chop, steak, fried chicken, mixed veggies and fries for only... wait for it... P185! Ang mura! For a weak eater like me, this will last the whole day, haha! The only thing that made us upset was they ran out of strawberry milk shake! What?!

The spare time that I had was so quick, I only had a few hours to take a tour. If you're going to Baguio on such a tight schedule like ours, the trick is to go to destinations that are really near each other. From the plaza, there's a jeepney that can take you to Mines View, Wright Park, The Mansion and Botanical Garden. I enjoyed walking from one place to another especially on such a cool weather.

Mines View is such a famous tourist spot that I felt like almost every one's here! Super daming tao!
Igorot pieces not for sale. You may rent these for P10.
Outfit details in my upcoming posts! :)
Going to Wright Park was a long walk down the steps. Great exercise but JR hated it, haha!
Ay pwet ng kabayo!
Horses with neon pink hair! Kalurks!
Tired of walking? Merienda muna with strawberry taho! :)
One of my favorite street foods, dried stuff!

We dropped by a mini art gallery within the Botanical Garden's premises.
Also checked out The Mansion, which is the Philippine President's vacation house.

By night time, if you want a place for drinks and pulutan, Red Lion Pub is one of those bars recommended by many. It also has a pool table and a videoke room for groups of friends who want to just chill and have fun. It's not a party place though and I find the prices pretty steep. I got adobo flakes and JR had a tocino rice meal but we forgot to take photos of the food, haha.

It's not yet dark. We got there early!
Cool chandelier
Hmmm interesting... they have really old books!
Smoking area (P.S. I don't smoke, haha)

Before going home to the city, make sure you go to the public market for the cheapest pasalubong items.

Baguio's trademark: strawberries! 3 packs for P100
Look, rainbow walis (broom)! Ang cute lang :)
 Wooden keychains - P10/each

It's sad to miss out on another go-to place in Baguio which is obviously the ukay-ukay (thrift shops) but I'm sure there'll be a next time! Oh by the way, if you're going on a super quick and busy Baguio trip, I hope this post guides you well. Keep on enjoying the summer vacation guuuys! :)

    1. I also wanted that! But it's too costly for my budget when I checked out how much it is at the market place. Around P3,000 which is too much for me. :)
