As I strive to juggle blogging and all my projects (hosting / production and events management / entrepreneurship), there's one thing I would never want to lose in the process - myself. Indeed, the social media arena is a world of make-believe. No matter how we try to be as real as possible, we just can't. There will always be things about us we can't share with other people, things we should opt not to say and darkness about ourselves we don't want our readers (I'd rather not use the term followers) to see.
Of course, this is very much understandable and inevitable. That's why we have terms like personal space and privacy. However, it doesn't give justice to being fake. The social media public won't forgive us for that. We bloggers, as well as the other internet personalities, in one way or another have inspired and influenced other people. Putting on a show to create a certain "image" just for popularity will never be worth it. Because at the end of the day, we will definitely feel vacant inside knowing that what people believe in is just the characters we are portraying.
It's okay if we can't reveal everything about ourselves. But one of the many things Eugene Domingo has taught me is to value myself, be natural and be thankful for everything, to everyone that makes up for who I am. 2012 is just a few days away and as I look back, this year was a redemption from my previous shortcomings. It was great and I'm thankful to God, to my family, friends and to the readers who have made Style and Soul their constant read (I don't want to say daily read! Haha.). I will be forever grateful and grounded because the internet has expanded my world and has made me see how teeming this universe is with talent and awesomeness!
